Rochette switched coaches at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season and then went back to her previous coach Manon Perron after the season.

Rochette is the first Canadian lady to medal at Worlds in 21 years. Elizabeth Manley took silver in 1988. Rochette has been with coach Manon Perron for most of her career except for a brief interruption in the 2004/05 season. Rochette travelled to Peru in summer 2009 with the charitable organization World Vision/Vision Mondiale to visit children and families.

ABOUT JOANNIE

Favourites:
Music - I like all kinds, but mainly what's on the radio.
Singer/Group - Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Craig David, The Beatles, Nine Days, and Elvis
Food - Italian or Chinese
Dessert - Chocolate Cheese Cake
Colour - Red
Actor/Actress - Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd
Skaters - Kurt Browning, Bourne & Kraatz, Michelle Kwan, Gordeeva & Grinkov

Do you have a favourite program that you've skated to?
I don't really have a favourite program yet.

Why did you become a figure skater?
It's not something you decide to do when you start, my mother just put me in all kinds of sports when I was younger and skating is what I kept doing since then.

What is your favourite aspect of skating?
Jumps - Triple toe (but it often changes)
Spins - Camels on the other edge.

What are your future plans, whether it be school or skating?
Skating: I want to go as far as I can and push my limits to the max, and of course an Olympic Gold is always an ultimate goal in all sports.
School: I still haven't decided what I want to study, but I for sure want to go to University. I am already studying health sciences, so it will be in relation to that.

Is there anyone "famous" that you'd love to meet or wish you had met?
Singer: Elvis Presley
Actor/Actress: all the people I listed above
Skater: Ilia Kulik and Katia Gordeeva

Do you collect anything?
I like to have little dolls or souvenirs from every country I visit, but otherwise I don't collect anything.

What are your thoughts on the Code Of Points judging system?
I really like the code of points, but like any other system, it's not perfect. No system will be perfect, as skating is a judged sport, so it involves a lot of personal appreciation.

Where would you like to travel? Where would you like to re-visit?
I would like to visit Australia and South Africa one day. I wish there was more competitions there! I really liked my trip to St-Gervais in France, and I would like to visit Paris next time I go in that country!

Finish the sentence: The Most Important Thing In Life is:
Being happy with myself, and what I become as a person
