Injuries
She sprained her ankle when she tripped
and fell in her apartment in November 2001...She was not able to compete in
her second Grand Prix event, the Trophee Lalique, because of this accident.
Physiotherapist is Martin WAELCHLI...Splits practice time between the Swiss
towns of Flims, Baretswil, Kloten and Buelach.
Personal
Her mother is an international figure skating judge...Sister
skates on a synchornized skating team...Coached by her aunt...Her father, uncle
and two cousins are all hockey players...Favorites include: color - blue and
yellow; drinks - ice tea; figure skater - Alexei YAGUDIN; song - "I'm Like
a Bird" by Nelly FURTADO; city - Vancouver, Canada.

Meier hails from a skating family. Her mother and sister both skate in a synchronized team, and her motheris also the president of the local skating club. Meier is coached by her aunt Eva Fehr. Her father, uncle and two cousins play ice hockey. Her father is the president of the local hockey club. Meier was forced to withdraw from Europeans 2003 due to a foot injury. She missed the first part of the 2003/2004 season as well due to injury. Meier is the first Lady from Switzerland to medal at Europeans in 26 years when she took the silver in 2007. Denise Biellmann was European Champion in 1981.
Meier missed most of the 2008/09 season due to injury (herniated disc). She withdrew from the Grand Prix events in 2009 due to an achilles tendon inflammation.
