Soldatova represented Russia until the 1999/2000 season, but decided to skate for Belarus in spring 2000. She is still practising in Moscow. Soldatova's mother was a recreational skater. She took her daughter to the ice rink when she was four years old. Soldatova studied German at school. The first triple jump she learned was the salchow. Until today, this jump remains her favorite one. Her coaches Elena Tchaikovskaya and Vladimir Kotin are well known: Tchaikovskaya coached Kotin to four silver medals in European Championships 1985 to 1988. Soldatova had to withdraw from the Europeans 2001 after the short program due to a shoulder injury.
