Oblasova won the 2001 Junior World Championships which was her first time participating in these championship. She admires 1998 Olympic Champion Tara Lipinski. Oblasova started to skate when she was 3 and a half years old and was discovered by a coach while skating in a recreational group. She went into pairs skating briefly as a ten year old (with Stanislav Zakharov), but then switched back to singles. In the 97/98 season Oblasova was off the ice for seven months due to a hip injury. Doctors thought she would never skate again.
