Meissner's full first name is Kimberly. She started to skate after watching her three elder brothers playing hockey. She supports the Cool Kids Campaign which benefits pediatric oncology patients. Meissner switched coaches following the US National Championships in January 2008 and moved to Florida to train with Callaghan.
