Inoue was a two time Olympian from Japan in single and pairs. Inoue's best sinlge result Junior Worlds 1994, 5th. She received U.S. citizenship in 2005. Baldwin hails from a skating family. Both his parents were skaters, his father was a National Champion in singles and pairs. Baldwin previously had been on the U.S. national team in singles since 1986 and was 1991 National Junior Champion and 1990 World Junior Bronze medallist in singles. Inoue/Baldwin withdrew prior to the free skating at the 2003 Four Continents Championships, as Inoue suffered from the flu. Inoue / Baldwin include a side by side triple Lutz in their programs. They switched coaches after the 2005 National Championships. Coach Peter Oppegard was the 1987 World bronze medallist in pair skating with partner Jill Watson. Inoue/Baldwin are the first couple to have landed a throw triple Axel in competition (2006 National Championships) and international competition (2006 Olympic Winter Games). The couple switched coaches after the 2005 National Championships. Coach Peter Oppegard was the 1987 World bronze medallist in pair skating with partner Jill Watson. The couple switched coaches after the 2006/07 season and decided to sit out the 2007/08 Grand Prix Series to have a rest.
