Galit Chait is from Israel but has lived and trained for quite
a while now in the USA, since in her home country, ice rinks are rare. In 1994,
she joined forces with the Russian Sakhnovski. With his former partner Elena
Sviridova, Sakhnovski was a World Junior Champion for Russia in 1993. After
the 1998/99 season, Chait/Sakhonvski switched coaches and left Natalia Linitchuk
to train with Tatiana Tarasova.
Chait/Sakhnvoski are the first skaters from Israel to medal at World Championships
(bronze in 2002). Sakhnovski was the 1993 World Junior Champion with partner
Ekaterina Svirina competing for Russia. Coach Evgeni Platov is a two-time Olympic
Champion (1994, 1998) in ice dancing (with Oksana Grishuk). Coach Alexander
Zhulin is the 1993 World Champion and 1994 Olympic silver medalist (with Maya
Usova).
