Abitbol/Bernadis teamed up in 1992. They are working on the throw triple axel, but have not yet landed one in competition. They are the first French pair skaters to win a medal at Worlds (a bronze in Nice 2000) since Andree Brunet/Pierre Brunet took the gold in 1932. Abitbol/Bernadis' coach Stanislav Leonovitch also coached the World and Olympic Champions Gordeeva/ Grinkov. Leonovitch was the 1982 European Silver Medalist with Marina Pestova (for the USSR). Their Free Program tells the story of warrior Tristan and his lover Isolde. When he dies in combat, she dies of a broken heart.
